Inspecting the Interior
Check for visible signs of forced entry Check for water damage around windows, cabinetry and throughout ceiling Check for signs of mold and mildew Ensure interior temperature is appropriately set Flush all toilets to keep tank hardware from drying out and rotting Run the water in each sink to keep gaskets and seals from drying out Search for plumbing leaks in the kitchen and bathrooms Examine the hot water heater and determine if any leaks are present Look for signs of rodent or insect infestation Look for water spots on the interior ceiling that could be a sign of a leak in the home's roof Examine doors and windows for signs of damage that could allow water or air to come inside Secure all doors and window locks Inspect the main electrical power breaker panel for tripped breakers and reset as needed Ensure refrigerator is running appropriately if left on. If refrigerator is turned off, examine for mold and mildew Determine if other companies are adequately performing their services for swimming pool or lawn care where applicable. Test smoke detectors for functionality
Inspecting the Exterior
View swimming pool to make sure water is at an adequate level and visibly clear (if applicable) Run the sprinkler system to check for any broken sprinkler heads Walk the driveway and sidewalk to look for weeds or signs of root damage Search the exterior of the home for signs of storm damage following any tropical storm or hurricane Check the lanai cage for holes in the screen Retrieve mail, newspapers and flyers from the property and bring them inside Forward important mail items to your permanent address where necessary
